Lego Exhibit “Nature Connects” March 5 – September 5Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens is hosting 12 larger-than-life LEGO® brick sculpture installations in its Native Wildlife Zoo. Created by Sean Kenney, renowned artist and children’s author, “Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks” is an award winning exhibit currently touring the country. Made from almost a half million LEGO® bricks, the sculptures bring nature to life with a 6-foot tall hummingbird hovering over a trumpet flower, a deer family made from 48,000 bricks, a giant tortoise, a 7-foot long giant dragonfly, and more. This two-day event held on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 is an action-packed celebration of life at the beach where competitors test their skills against one another in the water and on the sand. The 2016 schedule includes the Beach Bum 5K, Beach Brawl Wrestling Tournament, BLVD Blowout Skateboard Competition, and a Junior Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Past year’s Salt Games drew more than 500 participants and 3,000 spectators for events like surfing, paddleboard racing, volleyball, lifeguard games, a kids run, hot dog eating contest, yoga, a crossfit challenge and a bikini contest.

In addition to the official games and contests, several mini-events and just for fun activities take place during the weekend, including cornhole tournaments, an open half pipe, a giant game of twister, Surfrider education zone and health food vendors.
